The combined Grand Master's Class Initiation and Basketball Tournament was held April 18-19, 2003 in the Des Moines area.  The Grand Master's Class initiation and Friday Night festivities were held at the Des Moines Scottish Rite.  The Basketball Tournament was held at a new venue, the Des Moines Schools Central Campus, a short distance away in downtown Des Moines.

This year Iowa DeMolay added a new feature -  Casino Night, Pool Party and time to hang out at the hotel, the Quality Inn, the night before the tournament.

It was terribly successful event - with more DeMolays than last year, a bigger basketball tournament, an final game in overtime and 14 new members! 

Special thanks for a successful event go to Grand Master Cliff Godsey, the Iowa Grand Lodge and their annual support, the 35 years of basketball tournaments sponsored by Za-Ga-Zig and their countless hours of volunteer work, Des Moines Scottish Rite Consistory for use of their building this weekend and all year and the hard work of the Event Director Perry Casazza and the special contributions by Jim Roske and Joel Schwendinger (our favorite chef).  Some of our favorite Rainbow Girls from Southgate Assembly were servers for the dinner put on for the Grand Master, Grand Lodge Officers and Potentate and did a wonderful job.   It will be a tough job to top this year's sucess.
