All Star Ritual Tourney

All Star is coming and you all know what that means, ritual tournament is coming. So get out thus ritual handbooks that have been gathering dust in the closet or in the desk since last year. If you want to bring home the big trophy I'd think about setting up teams so that you can get your parts learned and on your way to the word-perfect performances that earn first place. You have two more months tell All Star having teams picked now helps when it comes time to send in registration. So get on the ball this year and start practicing your ritual.

Allen Chapter

On November 24th, Tom Bowersox and I made a trip to Allen Chapter in Dubuque.
Carl Todd also came along for a chapter visit to count towards a merit bar.
The chapter members and advisors were there well before any of us arrived
playing pool and hanging out. When the meeting got started the officers opened
with ritual quickly and efficiently. The chapter being opened, business was
executed effectively and the whole meeting including ritual was concluded in
under an hour. After closing, the chapter migrated to the kitchen where
advisors and parents had prepared sloppy joes for dinner. After being stuffed
we all retired back to the rec room for pool.
Allen chapter knows how to make meetings more than just meetings. Each stated
meeting is an event to look forward to just like any other fun event on the
calendar. Look for ways to spice up your own chapter meetings whether it's
watergun ritual, pizza afterwards or football in the parking lot. It'll
increase attendance and more importantly make meetings more enjoyable for
everyone.
Allen Chapter's Installation of Officers is being held at the Dubuque Masonic
Temple at 2PM January 4th, 2004.

Brotherhood by Tom

Something that every DeMolay chapter could benefit from is more brotherhood.
I'm not talking brotherhood in the chapter room, where everyone is
(usually) civil and tries to help each other out. I'm talking about the
brother hood that extends beyond the chapter room, or even the Masonic
building that you meet at, and into your daily life. You don't have to hang
out with your DeMolay Brothers all the time, because that would get old
after a while. But next time you're bored, don't just sit around your house
doing nothing... Call up that new guy that got initiated last week, and ask
him to go bowling, or get a bunch of guys together to go see a movie or
something. The brotherhood that starts within the chapter room has so much
room to grow outside of just DeMolay related things, and vice versa.
Some of my best friends started as a random DeMolay guy that I didn't really
know until I started hanging out with them outside of pure DeMolay events.
